Some wear and tear is normal and expected as part of the Polestar driving experience.

Complimentary Vehicle Inspection

Between 30 and 45 days before your lease ends, you will be contacted to schedule a complimentary and comprehensive vehicle inspection. You can schedule your inspection yourself by calling 1-800-556-2811 or emailing autovincanadarequests@autovin.com.

Normal vs. Excess Wear and Tear

Use the chart below to compare normal versus excessive wear and tear.

Dents

Normal wear and use for dents

Normal Wear & Tear

  • Smaller than or equal to 4.0 cm diameter
  • Two or fewer dents per panel that can be fixed with paintless dent repair
Excessive wear and use for dents

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Larger than 4.0 cm in diameter
  • Three or more dings and dents per panel
  • Dents that have been previously repainted

Interior

Normal wear and use for interior

Normal Wear & Tear

  • Stains that can be removed as part of normal reconditioning.
Excessive wear and use for interior

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Tears, burns or singes in cloth or leather
  • Heavy stains that cannot be removed

Paint and Body Damage

Normal wear and use for paint and body

Normal Wear & Tear

  • Surface scratches that will polish out
  • Minor bumper scratches that do not break the paint
  • No more than two panel dings that are less than 4.0 cm in diameter.
Excessive wear and use for paint and body

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Scratches exceeding 2.5 cm in length
  • Excessive number of paint chips
  • Gouges, cracks or tears on bumper covers or body cladding
  • Three or more panel dings

Glass and Headlights / Taillights

Normal wear and use for glass

Normal Wear & Tear

  • Minor glass chips
  • Scratches on the windshield that are outside the wiper field
Excessive wear and use for glass

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Chips, stars or scratches on the windshield within the wiper field
  • Any crack in the windshield, lens or lens cover

Wheels

Normal wear and use for wheels

  • Cosmetic scrapes that do not affect the performance of the wheel
Excessive wear and use for wheels

  • Deep gouges or scrapes
  • Substandard wheel repairs 
  • Any damage that affects wheel performance

Tires

Normal wear and use for tires

  • Tread depth of 3.2 mm or greater at the minimum thickness point
Excessive wear and use for tires

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Less than 3.2 mm of tread depth
  • Tires that are the wrong size or speed rating
  • Cut, torn or plugged sidewall

Frame

  • Frame is not or has never been damaged

  • Damaged or substandard repairs to frame, unibody or body

Alterations

Normal Wear & Tear

  • No modifications other than Polestar approved accessories

Excess Wear & Tear

  • Any modifications, such as suspension, vehicle color or paint schemes, lettering or graphics, holes in frames, post delivery customizing, power train or fuel system alterations, non-OEM or dealer installed tinted glass, or substandard repair

Other examples of excess wear & tear include, but are not limited to missing, inoperable or cracked headlights, tail lights, turn signals, rearview or outside mirrors, or missing or inoperable seat belts or air bag, engine damage or inoperable vehicle, or missing audio equipment. End-of-Term Payments

We will mail you a final invoice that will include any charges for excess wear & tear, excess mileage, past due payments and any other unpaid charges such as fines, liens and governmental charges related to the vehicle. You can expect to receive the invoice within two to three weeks after we are notified that you returned your leased Polestar. Please refer to your lease agreement for complete details.
